Gran Turismo 7’s Next Update is a Hypercar Extravaganza

The car content for the next Gran Turismo 7 update has been announced at the GT World Series event in Milan, and it’s somewhat of a surprise as it brings five new cars with a laser focus on endurance racing.

It’s the first time we’ve really seen a themed update of this kind, and as it brings along four cars racing in the current LMDh and LMH categories and a safety car that also features in top-tier endurance racing.

We’ve not seen particularly much love for the Gr.1 category in Gran Turismo game updates, with the only one thus far being the Toyota GR010 Hybrid which won Le Mans in 2021 and 2022 and the WEC title from 2021-2024. That was added in the game’s second ever content update, 1.15 in April 2022, though in the real world the car itself has now been replaced.

That’ll change with the next update, arriving on June 11th 2026, as four more cars get added to the class to bring it almost up-to-date.

Arguably the biggest two here are the Porsche 963 Hybrid, from the LMDh class, and the LMH Ferrari 499P. The 499P is the defending champion of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, having won the last three races in a row and securing the WEC title last year too. The Porsche has won titles on both sides of the Atlantic, with two IMSA trophies and two Hypercar Teams championships for the factory-backed Hertz Team Jota.

Alongside those two are the BMW M Hybrid V8 and the Peugeot 9X8. While the 9X8 is more famous for its original wingless design, the car for GT7 is the 2025 season model. So is the BMW, which has scored podium finishes in both WEC and IMSA — and a win in the latter — though the Peugeot runs only in WEC and has some solid but not spectacular results.

The fifth car in the update is a safety car based on the 992-generation 911 Turbo S, which is the current safety car for the World Endurance Championship.

We’re awaiting some more official images, but it’s likely that this will be one of the best-received GT7 updates yet.
