PlayStation Days of Play Special Time Trial Now Available in Gran Turismo 7, £500 of Prizes on Offer

A special time trial event is now underway in Gran Turismo 7, marking PlayStation’s annual Days of Play celebration and offering prizes of around £500 in value for one winner plus rewards for everyone who takes part.

Like the regular in-game Lap Time Challenges, which cycle every Thursday, this event sets you the challenge of running the fastest lap time you can with a certain car at a particular track. You’ll land yourself some nice credit rewards if you can get within a certain margin of the top lap time overall at the end of the entry period which comes in two weeks’ time.

There’s a couple of twists to this one though, with the best player overall scooping a load of PlayStation goodies. Anyone who takes part will also be entered into a sweepstakes competition for the exact same bundle, with one player in each of five listed regions and one additional global winner taking the prizes. Alongside that there’s also a free Days of Play livery — and presumably the car it’s attached to — available for all participants as well.

With some regional exceptions thanks to local gambling laws, the prize bundle comprises a PlayStation Portal, a PlayStation DualSense Edge controller, a year’s subscription to PlayStation Plus Premium, and a $100 (£75) PlayStation Store gift voucher. One catch: you need to be a PlayStation 5 owner to be eligible for the event prize, but you don’t even need a PlayStation at all

Gran Turismo 7 Lap Time Challenge Days of Play 2026 – Laguna Seca

  • Track: WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca
  • Car: Porsche 911 (992) GT3 R ’22 – Garage/Rental Car
  • Power/Weight/PP Limit: BOP (L)
  • Tyres: Racing Soft
  • Settings: Fixed
  • Target Estimates: 🥇 1:21.700; 🥈 1:23.300; 🥉 1:27.200

It’s a fairly routine time trial event though, with the Porsche 911 (992) GT3 R featuring at Laguna Seca. Racing Soft tyres make this one an all-out blast with grip aplenty and although the early times are yet to crack through the 1:20 mark we don’t think it’s going to take too long for that to fall by the wayside.

We’ll take another look at the times in our next couple of regular Lap Time Challenge articles (the first being tomorrow) to get a handle on what the record is likely to be and a better idea of the targets you should aim for in order to grab the usual credit rewards.

Despite being a special event, the boundaries remain the same: +3% for Gold, +5% for Silver, and +10% for Bronze. The prize money of 2m credits for Gold and 1m credits for Silver remain their usual amounts, but there’s double the reward for hitting Bronze at 500,000cr. That’s often the case with these special events.

This one is one of two special time trial events running right now, with the other being a tie-in to the recent Gran Turismo World Series Milan live event. That’s set to expire tomorrow, alongside the older of the two regular Time Trials, so we’ll soon be back to a screengrab-friendlier three current events.

As for the Days of Play 2026 challenge, it runs for the same two weeks as most time trials but keep in mind that it didn’t start on the usual Thursday. It will in fact end on the evening of Tuesday May 10th, at 2359 UTC, so don’t leave your entry too late!
