LEGO and Hoonigan have announced a first collaboration between the brands that will see a Gymkhana star car become a LEGO Speed Champions model for the very first time, along with its brand founder: the appropriately named Ken Block.
The Gymkhana videos have become a significant part of wider car culture since the first video made its debut in 2008. Taking their name from the gymkhana — the North American name for autocross — motorsports discipline, the videos initially featured Block performing some spectacular stunt driving in a variety of Subaru vehicles. When Block switched to Ford for a World Rally Championship drive, so did the fledgling Hoonigan brand and the car builds became increasingly wild.
Gymkhana 7 starred arguably the craziest one of all, in the shape of a heavily modified, first-generation Ford Mustang dubbed “Hoonicorn”. In reality the 1965 Mustang’s body was coaxed onto a custom tube-frame chassis which supported all-wheel drive. An all-motor, 410ci V8 from Roush sent 845hp to all four wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox, with RTR supplying carbon-fibre body panels.
After starring in a follow-up video in 2016, Hoonigan modified the car with turbochargers to create the 1,400hp Hoonicorn v2, but it’s the original that you’ll be able to pick up as a LEGO Speed Champions set.

The set has a pretty high piece count for a single-car Speed Champions box, coming in at 345 pieces. That’s the same as another screen-star car, with the Fast & Furious Dodge Charger from the 2022 range matching it, but less than this year’s Back to the Future DeLorean. Included in that count is a minifig of Ken Block, sporting both a race helmet and a #43 cap, and details like the enormous, gold hydraulic handbrake.
You can pre-order the set now through the LEGO website, priced at the same £22.99 as other items in the range, with availability now confirmed to be June 1st. It’s likely to be accompanied by other new, unannounced sets which the rumour mill is suggesting will include another iconic vehicle from the Fast & Furious series, among others.
